Conclusion

Eight trials were included in the analysis; three drugs reduced the risk of breast cancer. These were tamoxifen (risk ratio 0.7, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.59 to 0.82), raloxifene (0.44, 0.27 to 0.71) and tibolone (0.32, 0.13 to 0.8). Each drug, however, had its individual counterbalancing risk profile.
