Conclusion

Some 879 women were included. They were all invited to use one of two versions of a computer-based decision aid before attending screening. Women who used the decision aid with more information about overdetection were better informed (29 per cent had adequate knowledge versus 17 percent of controls), and less likely to intend to be screened (74 versus 87 per cent, P<0.0001).
