Conclusion

This updated meta-analysis of the four existing trials analysed data to over ten years. Screening reduced AAA-related mortality (odds ratio 0.55, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.36 to 0.86; number needed to screen 238), but was not quite significant for all cause mortality (0.98, 0.96 to 1.0, P=0.06; number needed to screen 217).
