Conclusion

Some 425 patients with venous skin changes but no active ulcer were included. They were randomly allocated to three weeks of spa treatment or control group, and followed for one year afterwards. Spa treatment did improve the Venous Clinical Severity Score for up to a year (P=0.009), but did not reduce the rate of subsequent leg ulceration.
