Conclusion

This study included 200 procedures and evaluated the use of ultrasonic shears instead of conventional diathermy and clips. Use of the shears speeded up the surgery (50 vs. 65 min, P<0.002), improved pain scores (P<0.002) and resulted in earlier discharge from hospital (1.89 vs. 2.52 days, P<0.001).
