Conclusion

Some 798 patients received surgery, laser ablation or foam sclerotherapy. Measures of clinical success were similar among the treatments. Complications were least after laser ablation (P<0.001). Quality of life was slightly worse (P=0.006) and truncal ablation less likely (P<0.001) after foam compared with varicose vein surgery.
