A randomized controlled trial of Promogram (a collage/oxidised regenerated cellulose dressing) vs. standard treatment in the management of diabetic foot ulcers. Arch Surg 2002; 137: 822-7.

Published: 1st January 2002

Authors: Veves A, Sheehan P, Pham HT for the Promogram Diabetic Foot Ulcer Study.

Conclusion

The trial included 276 diabetics with an ulcer. After 12 weeks of treatment complete healing occurred in 37 per cent of ulcers treated with Promogram and 28 per cent treated with moist gauze dressings (p=0.12). Promogram was possibly more effective in ulcers of short duration (<6 months).
