Conclusion

This study included 137 procedures. The trial was stopped early due to higher mortality in the no drain group: 12 vs. 3 per cent. Patients without a drain had a higher rate and severity of complications (P=0.029). They also had higher rates of gastroparesis, intra-abdominal fluid collection and abscess (P=0.027)
