Conclusion

Some 3104 women with hormone receptor positive tumours were originally included and followed for a median of nine years. Anastrozole resulted in improved breast cancer survival: hazard ratio 0.73, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.56 to 0.96, P=0.02. The difference was only in women under 60 years of age.
