Conclusion

The trial included over 1700 patients within six months of a TIA or stroke, and followed for a mean of 3.5 years. The addition of dipyridamole reduced the rate of subsequent cardiovascular events from 16 to 13 per cent: hazard ratio 0.8, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.66 to 0.98.
