Conclusion

The 30 day risk of death, stroke or myocardial infarction was 8.5 per cent after stenting vs. 5.2 per cent after endarterectomy (P=0.006), in this study that included 1713 patients. There were more haematomas and cranial nerve palsies after surgery.
