Conclusion

This study included eight trials that analysed 2942 procedures. Stenting and surgery appeared equivalent, with similar 30 day (relative risk 0.69, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.45 to 1.07, P=0.1) and one year (relative risk 0.88, 0.43 to 1.79, P=0.72) stroke and death rates
