Conclusion

A total of 18 studies were suitable for inclusion. The minilaparoscopic procedure was associated with quicker return to normal activity and improved cosmetic scores after one month. There was a trend towards higher conversion rates than in those having conventional laparoscopic cholecystectomy (odds ratio 2.25, 95 per cent confidence interval 1.18 to 4.3) but also fewer adverse events (0.57, 0.31 to 1.04).
