Conclusion

A total of 41,000 men were included from age 65 to 83 years. Some 18 men in the screened group and 25 in the control group died from an aneurysm during the study (relative risk 0.61, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.33 to 1.11). Risk reduction was greatest in men aged 65 to 75 (0.19, 0.04 to 0.89).
