Conclusion

Simultaneous laparoscopic cholecystectomy and ERCP was compared with a staged approach in 91 patients. The simultaneous procedure was more likely to clear the bile duct (95.6 vs. 80 per cent, P=0.06) and shortened hospital stay (4.3 vs. 8 days, P<0.0001). Complication rates were similar.
