Conclusion

The addition of four courses of arsenic trioxide improved overall survival in this study that included 125 patients (P<0.05). It improved the objective response rate (82 per cent versus 59.4 per cent, χ2 = 7.650, P <0.05) and the clinical benefit rate (95.1 per cent versus 81.25 per cent, χ2 = 5.659, P < .05).
