Conclusion

This study included 107 patients; responders were classified by a 50 per cent reduction in fistula output within 72h of treatment. Responders then continued with treatment by intramuscular injection. Response rates were 65 per cent with lanreotide vs. 38 per cent with placebo (P=0.006), but overall fistula closure rates were similar in the two groups.
