After two years the ipsilateral stroke rate was 9.5 per cent after stenting compared with

8.8 per cent after surgery (p=0.62) in this trial that included 1214 procedures. Recurrent stenosis (>70 per cent) was higher after stenting: 10.7 vs. 4.6 per cent, P=0.0007
