Conclusion

Some 426 patients were randomized to receive angiography with angioplasty of significant coronary lesions or no intervention. There was only one postoperative death and one stroke in the whole series, but nine ischaemic myocardial events (one fatal) were recorded in the control group compared to none in the angiography group (P=0.01).
