Conclusion

This study compared aspirin with 24h intravenous heparin, to aspirin/clopidogrel combination after 50 carotid stenting procedures. The aspirin/clopidogrel combination had a lower rate of neurological complications (none vs. 25 per cent, p=0.02) and fewer groin haematomas (9 vs. 17 per cent, p=0.35).
