Conclusion

In this study that included 176 procedures, the actively treated group were given ulinastatin twice daily for three days perioperatively. The treatment protected liver function (lower bilirubin, liver enzymes, tumour necrosis factor) and reduced the duration of hospital stay, particularly after major hepatectomy.
