Conclusion

Nine hundred patients expected to live at least six months were included. Recurrent venous thromboembolism occurred in 7.2 per cent on tinzaparin and 10.5 per cent of those on warfarin (P=0.07). There were fewer non-major bleeding complications on tinzaparin: hazard ratio 0.58, P=0.004.
