Conclusion

In this trial that included 155 patients undergoing oesophagogastrectomy, the rate of anastomotic stricture was 0/55 in the semi-mechanical anastomosis group, 5/52 after hand-sewn anastomosis and 9/47 after use of the circular stapler. Reflux/regurgitation scores were similar after all procedures.
