Conclusion

A total of 459 patients with previously untreated advanced colorectal cancer were randomly allocated one of four chemotherapy regimens. Progression-free survival was not improved in any particular agent, but in general, combination treatment was better than single agent schedules, and capecitabine offered no advantage over fluorouracil.
