Conclusion

Some 167 patients completed the study. The rate of successful bowel preparation was similar: 91.7 per cent for polyethylene glycol and 96.4 per cent for oral sulphate (P=0.2). Adverse gastrointestinal symptoms were equivalent, but more patients complained of vomiting after the sulphate solution.
