Conclusion

In this study that included 295 patients who had abdominal surgery, early oral feeding was associated with increased postoperative vomiting (13.5 versus 6.1 per cent, P=0.03), but reduced hunger. There were no differences in complication rates, or the rate of nasogastric tube reinsertion
