Conclusion

This was a study of individual patient data from trials that included people taking aspirin for at least four years; data from over 25,000 subjects were examined. Aspirin reduced the overall death rate from cancer: odds ratio 0.79, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.68 to 0.92, P=0.003. The benefit increased with duration of treatment and included many common cancers.
