Conclusion

In this study that included 162 patients, implantation of the device appeared safe. After 12 months, the mean difference in weight loss compared to standard weight management was 8.5 per cent (95 per cent confidence interval 3.1 to 13.9 per cent), less than the pre-specified target of 10 per cent.
