Conclusion

Dexamethasone reduced postoperative nausea and vomiting: odds ratio 0.31, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.16 to 0.61, absolute risk reduction 28 per cent; P=0.001. Number needed to treat was four. There were no major adverse events in this study that included 152 patients.
