Conclusion

In this study that included 38 patients, the use of hydroxyethyl starch increased the rate of blood loss compared with Ringer’s Lactate solution: 2.2 versus 1.4 Li (P<0.038). Patients in the starch group required more fluid overall (P<0.0001).
