Conclusion

A total of 137 patients were divided into three different groups for wound closure. The rate of surgical site infection was lower in Triclosan barbed (6.4 per cent) and coated suture groups (8.9 per cent) than the PDS suture (23.4 per cent); P=0.03. Triclosan barbed sutures seemed to reduce the risk of wound dehiscence.
