Conclusion

Sixteen studies were included. The benefit of restricted fluid management in reducing complications was only seen in those with high weight increase difference (>2KG), relative risk 0.67, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.57 to 0.79), and those with high fluid intake ratio (>1.8), 0.72, 0.62 to 0.82.
