Conclusion

A total of 316 patients were followed for a median of 48 months. Both disease-free survival (58.4 per cent short course vs. 55.6 per cent chemoradiotherapy) and overall survival (67.2 vs. 66.2 per cent) rates were similar, as were the rates of late toxicity.
