Conclusion

Two methods were used to help carbon dioxide removal after laparoscopy in 158 procedures: pulmonary recruitment and intraperitoneal saline infusion. Compared to a control group, both methods reduced the rate of abdominal pain for up to 48h, but saline infusion also reduced shoulder tip pain (P<0.001).
