Conclusion

Almost 35,000 people were included in this study and followed for eleven years. Screening significantly reduced the rate of colorectal cancer by 18 per cent (95 per cent confidence interval 4 to 31 per cent), but the mortality reduction of 22 per cent was not significant (relative risk 0.78, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.56 to 1.08).
