Conclusion

Single dose flomoxef was compared to 3 days of prophylaxis in this trial that included 370 procedures. There did not appear to be an advantage to extended prophylaxis: surgical site infection rates were 7.2 per cent versus 8.4 per cent after single dose prophylaxis.
