Conclusion

Fifty-one patients had a PTFE tube inserted adjacent to their trocar wounds after laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Insertion of the patient’s own autologous fibrin was allocated at random. After 10 days there was no difference in wound breaking strength between treated and control wounds, though fibrin treatment did measurably alter collagen synthesis.
