Conclusion

Three hundred patients with a healed leg ulcer were followed for five years; 36 per cent developed recurrent ulceration. Recurrence rates were similar after Class 2 (39 per cent) or Class 3 stockings (32 per cent). Compliance was lower with Class 3 stockings, yet recurrence rates were lowest in people who tolerated the highest compression.
