Conclusion

Some 52 patients were included, and 27 were randomized to having their bladder filled with up to 500ml saline before catheter removal (after prostatectomy). Discharge from hospital occurred 40min sooner in the instillation group (p=0.30; recatheterisation rates were similar (2 in each group).
