Conclusion

Some 528 people with a strong family history were randomized to repeat colonoscopy after three or six years. After six years, the rate of advanced polyp detection was similar: 3.4 and 6.9 per cent, respectively. Surveillance every three years was only necessary for patients with three or more adenomas detected at colonoscopy.
