Conclusion

Thirty surgical novices were randomly allocated to five weeks of systematic video game training with either chessmaster (mostly cognitive) or a first person shooter game (high visual spatial demands). The group trained on the visual spatial game performed significantly better in two virtual reality endoscopic surgical stimulators.
