Conclusion

There were seven randomized trials that included 836 patients. Triclosan sutures did not affect the rate of surgical site infection (odds ratio 0.77, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.4 to 1.51, P=0.45) or wound breakdown (1.07, 0.21 to 5.43, P=0.93).
