Conclusion

This meta-analysis of 46 studies included over 30,000 procedures. There was a small but significant increased risk of transfusion versus control for aspirin (relative risk 1.14, 95 per cent confidence interval 1.03 to 1.26, P=0.009) and dual antiplatelet therapy (1.33, 1.15 to 1.55, P=0.001), but no difference in mortality.
