Conclusion

Almost 30,000 people with stable vascular disease were included. The primary outcome was a composite: cardiovascular death, stroke or myocardial infarction, which was reached after a mean of 23 months in 4.1 percent on rivaroxaban plus aspirin, and 5.4 per cent on aspirin alone, P<0.001. The combination had more major bleeding events: 3.1 versus 1.9 per cent, P<0.001.
