Conclusion

A total of 3331 patients with raised D-dimer were included and the outcome was a composite score of adverse events. The outcome score was similar between anticoagulant regimens in both stable and unstable patients. Bleeding was more common after therapeutic anticoagulation: 8 versus 2 per cent, P=0.001.
